Record a meeting and get a transcript

Record a call or an in-person discussion so you can return to what was said and turn it into useful work.

Before you start

Recording is off by default. Turn it on yourself in Settings → Recording and grant microphone access. To include the other side of a call, review Capture system audio under Permissions. Make sure participants know you are recording.

Mac recording transcription uses your own OpenRouter key, configured in Settings → Recording → Transcription. Provider processing and charges apply. Without a configured key, you can save the audio and add transcription later. This is separate from iPhone voice capture.

Record the meeting

Use the recording menu-bar control and choose Record Meeting. Check the visible recording indicator. Pause, continue or stop through the recording controls; only choose Discard when you intend to lose that take.

Meeting-detection and calendar suggestions are optional conveniences in Settings → Recording → Meetings. A prompt is an offer to record, not proof that recording has started. Calendar access is needed only for the associated calendar features.

See the result

After stopping, open the Push Session holding the recording. Its thread contains the playable audio and any transcript available for that take. Check that the audio includes the people you expected before relying on the transcript.

Find the recording attached to this work. Tell me whether its transcript is ready, and help me transcribe it if it is missing.

The agent can inspect recording state. It cannot enable recording or grant macOS permissions for you.

If something stops

If the settings pane shows only one switch, Recording is still off. If only your voice was captured, check system-audio permission and capture settings before the next meeting. An uncaptured speaker cannot be reconstructed by rewriting a transcript.

If transcription is unavailable, check your configured key and provider access. Keep the saved audio while resolving the issue. For an existing inaccurate transcript, ask the agent to inspect the problem before replacing it.
